100 years of adoption

The Adoption of Children Act (1926) introduced a legal process in England and Wales, whereby the rights and responsibilities for a child could be transferred from birth parents to adoptive parents.

Adoption

In England 3,000 children are waiting for adoptive parents. Could adoption be right for you and your family?

Early Permanence

Early Permanence placements allow babies and young children to find foster carers who are ready to adopt them later, if the courts decide they cannot be cared for permanently by their birth family.

Preparing for adoption

This section takes you through the adoption process stage by stage with practical information, interactive exercises and audio and video guides.
